About the Pub

The Coopers Arms is a 17th century timber-framed, brick fronted building. It is likely to have been a farmhouse originally, but by 1927 it was a fully licensed house, the Cooper's Arms. It is possible that it started as a beer house or off-license before gaining its full license in the mid 1920s.

The pub has always been at the centre of village life and has been involved with social, musical and community activities throughout the years.

The 'infamous' Kings Korner Band have a long association with the Pub and are pictured here, in the main bar in the 1950s.

Although not formally the 'actual' Carnival Field many of the floats are built on Coopers Field in the run-up to the annual Carnival, which is held every September.

The main bar has been kept in the traditional style and features many artifacts from over the years.

However, the Pub features live music every Friday night with an extensive repertoire of local and international talent.

Bands that have played have included New York based Jena Peri, Devizes own Pete Gage (Dr Feelgood), New jersey based Big Baby Ernie and of course The Convulsions. All backed by a strong repertoire of Rock/Blues and Indie bands... Music every week!!
